ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
So, how do you become an MOT Tester? There are specific steps in place for anyone that wants to be able to carry out MOT Tests.

You will need to achieve a status as an MOT Tester. This is the title of someone that is authorised to perform MOT Tests.
To be eligible, you must:
• have a current and full UK Driving Licence for the vehicle classes you
want to test
• be a skilled mechanic with at least 4 years full-time employment in the
service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested
• have no 'unspent' convictions for criminal offences connected with the
MOT Testing Scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or
• be ‘of good repute’
• have an accepted qualification or accreditation to test classes 3, 4, 5 & 7
(cars and light vehicles)

How to become an MOT Tester
If you meet the eligibility criteria of how to become an MOT Tester, the next thing you need to do is take and successfully pass the MOT Tester Qualification Course.
Finally you will need to pass the DVSA Demonstration Test.
